Summary |
Was the Zika virus, which panicked pregnant women globally, the cause of a spike in birth defects as proclaimed by the World Health Organization and the CDC? Did it merit the U.S. government's decision to spray the neurotoxin Naled onto schools and communities? Sprayed follows the Miami hearing led by Michael Hall, M.D., who defends his patients and presents his case against releasing GMO mosquitoes and continued chemical contamination in the name of disease control. Harvard MBA documentary filmmaker Craig Leon searches for answers, bringing the audience to Vietnamese detox centers to meet 2nd and 3rd generation Agent Orange victims, and to the epicenter of the microcephaly outbreak in the arid northeast of Brazil. Voices of doctors, researchers, and affected families are heard. "I had to do research," notes Hollywood Film Festival CEO Brad Parks, "because it was almost too hard to believe to be true and it turns out it's exceptionally true…and it is frightening. Not only beautiful, and artful, and smart, it is courageous." |
