Summary |
At mouse school, the teacher draws the face of a cat on the board and cautions her little mice pupils about how dangerous cats are, but three of her charges are whispering among themselves and do not hear. Suddenly they look up to discover that they are alone. They decide to go into the woods to pick fruit, but then a hungry cat sees them and confronts them. Since they weren?t listening when their teacher gave her warning, the three mice have no idea that the cat might be dangerous. They invite him to pick fruit with them. The cat is so taken aback by the unexpected response that he ends up letting the mice lead him around by the nose from start to finish. When they are ready to say goodbye, the mice learn that the cat has four kittens, and each mouse gives him what they've picked so he will have something to take home, offering readers a glimpse of their kindhearted side. |
