Summary |
Felicia Lowe’s search for the roots of her father’s family has resulted in a warm, insightful portrait of Mainland China in 1979. Her journey takes us through the streets of Beijing where street dialogues reveal the curiosity of local people about the lives of the Chinese in America to a conversation with an English-speaking woman who, like Lowe, is a working mother, but it is the landscapes in the faces of her aunts, uncles, cousins and 85-year-old grandmother that are the greatest rewards of the voyage..."It feels like a real personal connection, something that’s often missing from those once-over-lightly China documentaries."San Francisco Examiner..CINE Golden Eagle, American Film Festival Red Ribbon Award, EMMY nominee, 1980. Broadcast on PBS. |
