Meanwhile, 15-year-old Alec sacrifices himself for his brother and takes part in the drawing for him. He is sent to the flames, a wall of fire that is one hundred meters high and is supposed to keep the army of trolls to the east. At the other end of the kingdom, Merk, a mercenary who wants to leave his dark past behind, must make his way through the forest to become a guardian of the tower. These help guard the Sword of Fire, the paranormal source of power in this kingdom. But the trolls also want to own the sword - and they are preparing for a massive invasion that could destroy the kingdom forever. This story takes us back to the past, when Kyra was only seven years old, and shows us a defining moment in her auspicious and mysterious life.
