Summary |
Students are taken through a step-by-step process of constructing a map. By translating a mental map into a sketch map and then creating a map complete with an alphanumeric grid, legend, compass rose and title, students are able to gain insight into the entire map-making process from beginning to end. Students will also learn about the essential map reading skills of scale, absolute and relative location, personal directions, point, line, area, distance and direction. Interviews with cartographers currently working in the field complete this comprehensive program. A teacher's guide is included and available online. |
