Summary |
Sunny Nwazue lives in Nigeria, but was born in New York. Her features are ordinary, but she is albino. She is very good at sports, but she can't play them in the sun. In short, she doesn't seem to fit in anywhere ... Until one day something incredible happens: she sees the end of the world in a candle flame. What seemed to be a hallucination is what ends up uniting her with three other boys in the same situation: she has magical abilities. When Sunny and her new companions begin to follow the trail of a criminal who also masters magic, the visible and the invisible merge into a reality that, as they soon discover, keeps transforming. For what does real mean when the unreal has been shown to be a part of existence? Nnedi Okorafor -winner of the Hugo, the Nebula, the Locus and the World Fantasy Award- creates in Witch Akata a spectacular story of adventure, mystery and magic rooted in Nigeria. |
