He confides to his daughter, Lucilla, that his adopted son, Livius, will succeed him instead of his more unstable heir, Commodus. Overhearing this, Cleander, a blind prophet loyal to Commodus, presents Marcus with a poisoned apple. After the funeral, Livius, who does not share Lucilla's ambition for himself or Rome, allows Commodus to proclaim himself emperor. While pestilence ravages Rome, Commodus continues his vain, licentious behavior. He ultimately neglects to deal with all symptoms of unrest and banishing anyone reminding him of his responsibilities. 521 8 Not rated. 538 DVD, region 1, widescreen (letterbox, enhanced) presentation; Dolby Digital, digitally remastered. 546 English dialogue, Spanish subtitles; English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. 586 8 Golden Globes, USA, 1965: Golden Globe - Best Original Score (Dimitri Tiomkin) 600 00 Commodus,|cEmperor of Rome,|d161-192|vDrama. 600 00 Marcus Aurelius,|cEmperor of Rome,|d121-180|vDrama. 600 10 Lucilla, Annia Aurelia Galeria,|cEmpress, consort of Lucius Verus, Emperor of Rome,|d150-182|vDrama. 650 0 Emperors|zRome|vDrama|vVideodiscs. 650 0 Emperors|xSuccession|zRome|vDrama|vVideodiscs. 650 0 DVDs. 651 0 Rome|xHistory|yCommodus, 180-192|vDrama|vVideodiscs. 655 7 Feature films.|2lcgft 655 7 Action and adventure films.|2lcgft 655 7 Video recordings for the hearing impaired.|2lcgft 700 1 Bronston, Samuel. 700 1 Barzman, Ben. 700 1 Franchina, Basilio,|d1914- 700 1 Yordan, Philip. 700 1 Mann, Anthony,|d1906-1967. 700 1 Loren, Sophia,|d1934- 700 1 Boyd, Stephen,|d1931-1977. 700 1 Guinness, Alec,|d1914-2000. 700 1 Mason, James,|d1909-1984. 700 1 Plummer, Christopher. 700 1 Ireland, John,|d1914-1992. 700 1 Ferrer, Mel. 700 1 Sharif, Omar,|d1932- 700 1 Quayle, Anthony,|d1913-1989. 700 1 Tiomkin, Dimitri,|d1894-1979. 710 2 Samuel Bronston Productions, Inc. 710 2 Weinstein Company. 710 2 Genius Products, Inc. 730 0 Fall of the Roman Empire (Motion picture) 830 0 Miriam collection ;|v2.
