By all "counts," twelve-year old Willow Chance should not have fit in anywhere. The adopted mixed-race genius stood far apart from her classmates, as she could speak many foreign languages, memorize medical textbooks, obsess over the number 7, and grow fruits and vegetables like a farmer. Willow's loving mother and father, however, accepted her idiosyncrasies and provided a safe haven for her. This all changed when her parents were both killed in an auto accident.
