Summary With fourteen years left on a twenty-year sentence, notorious Washington power broker, Joel Backman, receives a surprise pardon from a lame-duck president. He is smuggled out of the country on a military cargo plane, given a new identity, and tucked away in a small town in Italy. But Backman has serious enemies from his past. SRP 2013 REVIEW: The believable characters presented in this thriller spotlights and completely encapsulates the politics and high-pressure decisions necessary to assign and execute covert operations. A fascinating and intense read, this novel had its moments of humor and accompanying strife. The one aspect that may garble one's view of the book is the shallowness of some of the events in the book.

SRP 2010 REVIEWS (2): #1) Original plot line. I liked the main character, Marco Backman. #2) Easy read - premise is a bit far fetched.
