Summary Head: An exciting kaleidoscope of surreal vignettes set to music, this fast-paced film takes a psychedelic look at the pop phenomenon called the Monkees as they shatter their pre-fab image. A technically innovative rock musical.
Easy rider: Two motorcyclists travel across the U.S. in search of the real America, encountering along the way its big cities and small towns, a hippie commune, and drugs and sex in New Orleans.
Five easy pieces: Character study of a talented pianist who has given up a promising career and now works on oil rigs. After 20 years he returns home to his father's deathbed perhaps to reconcile himself with his fear of failure and desire for greatness.
Drive, he said: Hector (Tepper) is a confused basketball star at an Ohio college. He can't decide whether he wants to be a professional or spend his time rabble rousing with the radicals on campus. He is also having an affair with Olive (Black), the wife of Richard (Towne) an older professor. Hector's best friend Gabriel (Margotta) is about to be drafted for Vietnam. At his induction physical, Gabriel pretends to be crazy to avoid the draft. He then attempts to rape Olive but is foiled when Hector and Richard return unexpectedly. Gabriel then winds up going mad for real.
A safe place: An attractive but lonely and confused woman seems to flit back and forth in time and between reality and fantasy under the eye of a mysterious magician.
The last picture show: A bittersweet drama of the social and sexual mores in small-town 1950s Texas.
The king of Marvin Gardens: Gritty story of small-time losers and big-time dreamers in Atlantic City.
