Thomas Jefferson loved books, sometimes reading up to fifteen hours a day. Once, while living in Europe, he bought two thousand books in five years! After many decades, Thomas owned more books than almost anyone in America. In 1814, when the Library of Congress burnt down, Thomas offered them his books to rebuild their collection. Today, you can see 2,465 of these books on permanent exhibit in Washington, D.C. This book offers lots of fun facts about Jefferson and his love of reading. (mm)
