SRP 2012 REVIEW: My expectations were really high for this book, which makes it even more disappointing that I only give it two stars. I thought the first 80 pages or so could have been omitted from the 600 page book making it difficult to get into the book. I was expecting less narrative from the main character and wish there was more direct conversation amongst the characters. I found it difficult to find stopping points in the book and therefore had to refresh myself as to what was happening when I picked it up. On the pro side, I enjoyed the author's word choice; he has an exceptional vocabulary. All that said, I am intrigued by how the book was made into a movie. In this instance, I think the movie will actually be better than the book.
