Summary |
Through the high peaks of the Andes is the border between Argentina and Chile, yet the pastoral livestock phenomenon called Transhumance does not know borders because it was developed many hundreds of years before borders were artificially drawn by nations. Transhumance is a way of understanding the possible equilibrium between human beings with their environment, between the use of space and fluid movement of animals and human beings in a territory with established social structures. This unique nomadic form of subsistence and existence is not particular to Argentina because it is also observed in other regions of the world. Yet, the difference is in the territorial dimensions of this phenomenon in Argentina. |
