Summary Howie Barr chronicles the life of John Martorano, one of organized crime's most deadly enforcers. Offered a slew of football scholarships, Martorano could have gone to the college of his choice. Instead, he chose to remain in Boston's notorious Combat Zone, where he came under the tutelage of Stephen Flemmi, a high-ranking member of the infamous Winter Hill Gang and close associate of the gang's leader, James 'Whitey' Bulger. At the young age of 25, Martorano was a cold blooded killer.
