Basil is a "quiet" seventh grader with a secret - he sees colors when he sees numbers. This is only part of Basil's problem as his long absent mother returns and the new girl at school wants to be his friend. Both characters have family issues that they confront and come to terms with in the story. (cmm)

SRP 2013 REVIEW: This is the story about Basil, who has synthesia, one of the conditions of where you can see colors with numbers, a sort of sixth sense. He's a loner in school, until Tenzie comes along, another person with synthesia. She helps him as a friend in a ways he never imagined, especially when his mother comes back, a young actress who left the Basil at an early age to go to Hollywood. It's a really good, fresh, quick read that's highly recommendable to all, with lovable characters and an unexpected twists along the way.
