Summary |
In the early sixteenth century, Tenali Rama was a jester in the court of King Krishna Deva Raya, the ruler of Vijayanagara in south India. Known for his sharp wit, intelligence and sense of humour, Tenali Rama was one of the eight pillars in the Vijayanagara court. Tenali s brilliant sense of humour made all the other courtiers jealous. Many times jealous courtiers plotted to show Tenali in bad light. But Tenali had the blessings of Goddess Kali so that he always used the right word and did the right thing and invariably escaped the most difficult situations. However, Tenali Rama s sense of fair play endeared him to the common citizens and his tales soon became legend. Each tale in this volume reveals some or all facets of Tenali s character. |
