Summary |
Mid-stride into the new millennium fashion for the year 2006 opened with collections that were less about trends and more about diversity of style. The supreme range of creativity ranged from such standouts as Marc Jacobs, Fendi, Balenciaga, Rochas, Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Donna Karan, Miuccia Prada to Chloe and Proenza Schouler. The winter collections ushered in a more somber mood and palette. But throughout the year the runways were deluged with beauties from the former Soviet States; hot Brazilians were replaced with a cooler kind of classic beauty. Every fashion capital had memorable moments from Naomi Campbell’s hurricane Katrina fundraiser “Fashion for Relief” to the Kate Moss drug scandal which in less than 6 months took her from fashion pariah to “comeback Kate” as she played a starring role in a slew of new campaigns. |
