SRP 2010 REVIEWS (2): #1) A collection of stories by modern authors, all placing Holmes in the Americas. As is common with this kind of pastiche, he runs into a number of historical figures including Mark Twain, P.T. Barnum, Edwin Booth, and (in a bit of a wink-and-a-nudge moment) William Gillette. The quality is mixed, as expected of any collection. My personal favorites were the stories by Steve Hockensmith and Marta Randall; both were pleasant character studies, not of Holmes but of their narrators. #2) This is the first time I have read stories based on the Sherlock Holmes character written by anyone other than Arthur Conan Doyle. Very refreshing set of stories.
