SRP 2011 REVIEW: It is a heartfelt story about a rich young Mexican girl who suddenly loses her father, her home, and her money, and has to move to America to find work. It is interesting to hear from her point of view how being poor really is, but when she eventually gets used to not being waited on, she learns true virtues and the many blessings she still has.

SRP 2011 REVIEW: I feel the character, Esperanza's struggles and hardships as she plummets from wealthy to poor when her father unexpectedly dies. I think this is a very good book, and I loved reading about how Esperanza became accustomed to living as a worker, instead of having others work for her.
