SRP 2011 REVIEW: I chose to read this book because it says it's the sequel to The Giver. You would never know it because none of the characters are the same, the settings are different, and nothing connects. However, when I started reading the third book (Messenger), I discovered how they all connect. :) It wasn't nearly as good as The Giver.

SRP 2010 REVIEWS (2): #1) Very deep; must enjoy reading to like this book. I personally loved it! Read the Giver first and then Gathering Blue then the third book. I can't wait to read the third book! #2) The first of two companions to Lois Lowry's Newberry-winning book "The Giver," "Gathering Blue" tells the story of Kira, a girl with a twisted leg who survived against all odds in a village where anyone with a physical defect is left to die. Kira, who has an incredible, magical gift for embroidery, must discover her purpose in life. Read this journey of self-discovery set in the world of "The Giver."
