Summary |
"This book is not intended to bring about victory, or triumph over blindness. It is meant to layout the experience of blindness, as such. The purpose of his book is to give a comparison of seeing this world with and without eyes. I was sighted for forty years and I am blind for the last two years. I saw the world with eyes and also, without them. I have had this opportunity to be in a situation where I still remember how it felt to be sighted and in the last two years, I have become adjusted enough to put forth the experience of blindness, without being emotional about it. This book came into being because of my Orientation and Mobility Instructor. She influenced me in ways that were life-transforming and introduced me to the world of books amidst my blidness. This opened the world to me when all other portals were lost. I knew then that I would reach out to the world through this medium." -- page xiii. |
