Summary Originally published in 1841, Victorian novelist Charles Dickens unfolds the story of Nell Trent, a beautiful and moral young girl, who resides with her grandfather in London's The Old Curiosity Shop. When Grandfather looses all of his and Nell's money at gambling, the wicked Daniel Quilp evicts them both. A difficult and complex journey commences as Nell and Grandfather become beggars, and many ill-informed individuals pursue them, each with their own intentions for the newly impoverished duo.
