SRP 2011 REVIEW: I listened to this book about a line of cells used for research. You wouldn't think that would be an interesting topic, but I found this fascinating. As a young black woman in the 50s, Henrietta had some cells shaved from a cancerous tumor. These cells (HeLa) were used for medical research without her knowledge and they changed medicine. I liked the story of Henrietta's family and Skloot's story of her research. (Though she mentions the Mayo Clinic is in Minneapolis, MN and it is in Rochester, MN). Lots of ethical food for thought.
