SRP 2013 REVIEW: I just discovered this author and couldn't put this book down. While it's a fiction the book is very much based on her grandmother's life growing up on ranches in the west during the 1920s through the depression. Would have loved to have met Lily!

Written in the first person and full of stories to make you laugh and cry. #4) This is a "true-life novel" based on the story of Jeanette's grandmother, a spunky spirit named Lily. We follow her from her family's dirt dugout in Texas to her independent life in Arizona to Chicago and back west. You follow her through storms, the Depression and life's ups and downs. #5) I loved the book. Jeannette Walls' grandmother was quite a woman - full of spunk.
