SRP 2013 REVIEW: Te story of Sarah is fictional but tells the history of the round-up in Paris in 1942. It made me want to know more about the true history of the event. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys WWII historcal fiction.

SRP 2013 REVIEW: Told the little known story of the round up of French Jews by the French police, known as the "Vel' d'Hiv" in July 1942 Paris. The book alternates between the story line of the main character - Sarah in 1942 - and that of Julia, a reporter in 2002. A beautifully told story of family secrets.

SRP 2011 REVIEW: Such a compelling story. I like the intersection of the narrator's story with that of Sarah. So sad and even sadder the historical backdrop in which it is set.

SRP 2010 REVIEWS (8): #1) I was intrigued and curious about the story behind Sarah and her life during the Holocaust and beyond. I couldn't put it down! #2) Good historical fiction. Makes you think how lucky we are to live where we do, when we do. It's hard to believe people were mistreated so much just for their religion. It was nice to see a few people trying to do the right thing to help people escape. It's hard to read about children suffering so much. #3) a gripping story weaving present day paris to the holocaust. #4) I loved this book. It made you think and made you want to keep on reading. It was a great book about two families and their connection the round up during the Holocaust. #5) I loved this story so much. It drew me in from the very beginning. I am not much of a history buff, but it was just the right amount of history mixed with a modern-day story that I didn't want the story to end. It was perfect! #6) I really enjoyed this book. It brought out so many emotions as it describes the horror that Sarah and her Jewish family endured in France and the need of a journalist to find everything out about Sarah. #7) A wonderful book that shows a personal view of the Holocaust and France's role in that part of history. It ties beautifully to today and brings a family together. A book you won't want to put down. #8) Very good book. It's an intriguing weave of history and story.
