SRP 2011 REVIEW: Not quite the book expected. The concept was a litte far fetched but I kept reading. Trying to figure out how the main character was possibly going to make it through while struggling with his internal demon.

SRP 2010 REVIEW: Some reviews describe this title as Dexter for teens, but the demons that haunt John Wayne Cleaver are of a different sort. The main character, John, has created rules to live by in the hopes that he can keep his darker thoughts and impulses at bay. He knows that he shares many traits with famous serial killers, and tries to copy the "normal" people around him. This becomes more and more difficult as John realizes that the spate of local deaths is most likely the work of a serial killer. What starts out as the unsettling story of a teen trying to prevent himself from unleashing his inner monster takes a strange turn when the author introduces a supernatural element to the story. If you can go with it, the chilling ending is worth it, but many readers may be turned off by the author's decision to forgo a straight psychological thriller for a more fantastical plot. Definitely for older teens and up.
