SRP 2012 REVIEW: I found the dialogue about the aging process and its effect on the main character to be the most interesting part of this book. I liked other parts of the story, but that theme is what drew me into the story.

SRP 2012 REVIEW: The perspective of an elderly man caught my attention; the love story kept my attention. This was a great story, albeit dark at times, about train circus life in the 20s and 30s. It was nice to see such human characters, flawed and admirable at the same time.

SRP 2011 REVIEW: I read this book after seeing the movie trailer for the film version. There seems to have been a lot of hype about this book over the past few years, and the hype is true. It is a very well written story about finding one's self when you have nothing else. Sometimes the more dangerous path leads to a greater reward.

SRP 2010 REVIEWS (4): #1) I really made you appreciate what older people feel as they remember the past and experience the loss of loved ones as the years go by. #2) A unique story told from an insider's view of circus life. The book also presents life from a 93 year old's perspective. Since I currently care for my 91 year old in-law, this was very insightful. #3) I thought this book was very interesting. I never imagined life in the circus, until this book. There are definitely some intense moments that will keep you turning the page. #4) Love love loved this book. I flew through it even in the craziness that is my life!
