SRP 2010 REVIEWS (2): #1) Even though this is a book intended for readers aged 8 - 12, I think anyone who is fond of the Thorne Rooms at the Art Institute of Chicago will enjoy it! I loved the adventures that Ruthie and Jack had when they discovered a magic key that allowed them to shrink to 5 inches and explore the many beautiful rooms. I got the illustrated art book on the Thorne rooms from the library to help visualize each of the rooms they explored. There is also a mystery when they discover hidden items in the rooms, and challenges for remaining undiscovered and dealing with "monster" bugs. A delightful story! #2) I thought this book was okay. It was pretty slow moving in the beginning, so I really didn't get into after a long time. But the author taught me a lot about the Thorne Rooms, which are held in the Art Institute.

A magic key shrinks two kids so they fit into miniature rooms to solve a mystery. What fun! Our six year old is so captivated by this tale that she’s even asked to go to the Art Institute.
