SRP 2013 REVIEW: Futuristic setting where everything is perfect, until it is revealed that it's too perfect to be true. This novel is actually a youth novel, but has adult interest. It focuses on ethical questions such as euthanasia and free choice. Excellent

SRP 2013 REVIEW: This book was dull at the beginning, but it ended out unfinished. In this book, the world ios complete and set, bet the Giver was mysterious. I liked the part about the Giver.

The Giver Review X
October 10 2012
The Giver by Lois Lowry is a phenominal book that shows how important it is to not take things for granted and how lucky we are to have everything that we have today. It's a very fast read and it is written with great depth and it's just a great read.

SRP 2012 REVIEW: I liked it because it took place in the future. It was very different because there was sameness. No color, weather birthdays, family, or feelings. You didn't even get to choose your job! A world like that would be horrible. I cried when I learned what release was. Overall, it was a great book.

SRP 2011 REVIEW: I liked this story because it was interesting how the people in this story do things differently then we do in real life. Also some parts in this story have really suspenseful moments. I rate this book a four stars

SRP 2011 REVIEW: I re-read this book when I discovered that it has sequels. It is so sad what the Giver and Receiver had to endure for their people, and no one understood! I can't wait to read the sequel.

SRP 2010 REVIEWS (4): #1) The Giver was a good book. After the ceremony of 12 Jonas has been selected to be the next receiver of memory. When the Giver shows Jonas stuff he doesn't want to see Jonas wants to go back, but there is no turning back. #2) I really liked this book and I think it was one of my favorites ever. I didn't realize this but I really like sci fi and especially with this book. Jonas has a lot of troubles to deal with because he was chosen to be the receiver and he had to take all of the memories that his community didn't want. Very Great! #3) This book was a fantasy book, and this Jonas was the spotlight of this exciting book. Intriguing :) #4) In a dystopic future world where there is never pain, pleasure, hate, or love, Jonas is selected to become the next to hold the memories of what the world was like before humanity made the choice to go to the Sameness. This classic book, often read in school, deserves to be perused over and over in its own right to remind us of the value of choice.
