SRP 2013 REVIEW: Good. Interesting plot twists.

SRP 2013 REVIEW: It's very readable, but that's about it. Both narrators are incredibly unappealing, and there is no reason to want to spend time with them and -- especially -- in their heads. Quite frankly, they're pretentious assholes. Which makes sense, because this book reads like it's smarter than the reader, delighting in the fact that it thinks so. The end is also entirely unsatisfying.

SRP 2013 REVIEW: I enjoyed this book. It was a fun quick read. I did not think it lived up to all of the "hype" though.

SRP 2013 REVIEW: Amy goes missing from her home on the morning of her 5th wedding anniversary. Nick, her husband, is the police's only real suspect. Told from Nick's perspective, the reader is kept wondering if he is guilty. Then when we find he is not, Amy returns in a complete sociopathic way to prove that brillance can take you to the darkest corners of the earth. What an unbelievable look at marriage, about power and about the game of "chess" that is life. FASCINATING...but a "WHAT?!? - frustrating" ending. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

SRP 2013 REVIEW: Couldn't put it down!

I couldn't put the book down, but wished I hadn't read it. The ending was so bad. There was no closure and it seemed to just stop. I loved Dark Places and Sharp Object, so was very disappointed in this book.

This book was a quick read, which is not normal for me. I enjoyed the two voices and could appreciate the reflections to the beginning of a marriage. I also appreciated the struggles and intellence of the main characters.

SRP 2012 REVIEW: Good thriller/mystery about a woman who goes missing from her home. The story is told in alternating chapters by her husband Nick and the woman herself. Full of unreliable narrators and twists and turns, it was hard to put down.

SRP 2012 REVIEW: This is a psychological thriller of sorts, unique in its structure. The husband's story is told starting the day his wife disappears, and the wife tells her story through a diary she started on the day they met 5 years before. As the reader tries to figure out if there has been a crime, we are also challenged to determine who is lying.

SRP 2012 REVIEW: I thought it was a good mystery, with some interesting twists in the story, and I didn't feel it was too predictable.

SRP 2012 REVIEW: This mystery takes a classic husband-kills-wife story and turns it inside out. Flynn tells her tale at a fast pace, switching back and forth from philandering husband to seemingly sweet and perfect wife's perspective. She'll have you guessing, with more plot twists than the most complex psychological crime thriller.

SRP 2012 REVIEW: OMG! This book grabs you and drags you with it to the end. I cannot believe how intrigued I became. None of the characters is very likeable but you've GOT to find out how things turn out. Great summer read

SRP 2012 REVIEW: This riveting novel is responsible for my dark circles and extra shots of espresso the last few days. I made the perhaps foolish choice of starting the novel before bed one night, thinking I'd read a chapter and then go to sleep. 150 pages later, it was 2am and I was trying to justify staying up the rest of the night to finish it even though I had to work in the morning. That's the kind of book this is. The story, as it opens: Nick's wife Amy disappears the morning of their fifth wedding anniversary. The house shows signs of a struggle, and Nick's shaky alibi isn't doing him any favors as the police investigate the situation. The story alternates viewpoints between Nick in real time and Amy in diary entries starting with the first time she and Nick met and leading up to the night before her disappearance. Each of them are compelling narrators, but they both have secrets and have become quite adept at playing psychological games. I love this book and if you're looking for a compelling, well-written thriller/mystery then this will definitely be your cup of spiked Kool-Aid.
