SRP 2013 REVIEW: This book takes place after Will has become a full ranger, and is in charge of Seacliff Fief. He is not facing any big problems, but being without Halt watching his back is challenging enough. The period of relaxing is not long, however, and Will is assigned a mission in the north. He will there find a complicated conspiracy, which revolves under curses, sorcerers, healers, and a Scotti invasion. This book has a lot of action, adventure, hidden secrets, conspiracies, and a forest with a reformed sorcerer.this book starts the great adventure in Macindaw, and the next book in the series, concludes the adventure.

SRP 2010 REVIEW: Will is finally a ranger, not just a ranger's apprentice. Will's assigned fief is pretty calm until Skandians come to raid. Luckily, Will has had experience with Skandians and gives them what they need and, in return, they don't burn down the village. A few days later Alyss comes with a secret message. Will is sent to Castle Macindaw disguised as a Jogleur. There, the castle's lord has fallen under a sickness and his son Lord Orman takes his place. Lord Orman is a scholar and no warrior. People suspect he is the one who put the curse on his father. Will soon finds out that it is Sir Keren, Lord Orman's cousin who poisoned Lord Orman's father and now him. Will has a secret helper who is actually Alyss and Will has to abandon her to help Lord Orman. Alyss is captured and Will must save her before it's too late. A great book on Will's very first mission.
