Raven Queen attends high school at Ever After High. Soon, she will be required to sign the Book of Legends and commit herself to playing her part as “the Evil Queen” in the Snow White story which recurs once in each generation. Raven, like most teens, does NOT want to turn into her mother who was a particularly ruthless Evil Queen. Raven wonders if an Evil Queen can have true friends like Raven does in the Mad Hatter’s daughter Maddie. There’s fun and humor here with an inventive cast of reimagined fairy tale high schoolers like Daring Charming who can’t resist a damsel in distress and Blondie Locks who finds all doors unlocked to her. I particularly enjoyed that Maddie can hear the narrator unlike all the other characters and tricks him into revealing things about the story as it unfolds. Clever fairytale fun. Grades 4 – 7. – ab
