SRP 2011 REVIEW: I liked Wither because, although it was science fiction, it was really realistic. I could sympathize with Rhine, the main character, who was taken from her home to marry a man she didn't know. In the book, a new generation of children grow up to die by age 25 due to an unknown genetic glitch. Rhine is forced to marry a wealthy young man, just like many other girls her age, in an effort to repopulate the world's declining population. The book follows her attempts to escape from her husband and return to her brother at home.

SRP 2011 REVIEW: Every person dies sooner or later, right? Well, in Rhine's world, all are dead before they see their twenty-sixth birthday. So what do young girls like her do in the face of such imminent death? Be captured and marry off into polygamous captivity. "Wither" is disturbing, melodious, thrilling, haunting, slightly disgusting, and left me hanging at every page turn.
