SRP 2011 REVIEW: When I was growing up, I loved the Chronicles of Prydain--the memorable characters, their vibrant interactions, the compelling story: all of these tied up together in a timeless set of books. Now, on a whim, I picked up some more of Lloyd Alexander's books. This one is a gem. Set in the Indian mythos, The Iron Ring tells the story of a young king (Tamar) who must fulfill a debt. The style was very different from the Chronicles of Prydain (which owe their inspiration to the Mabinogion), but the story had the same special effect upon me, enchanting me with Alexander's fine storytelling.
