Summary |
The Origins of Disease: Filmed in Korea, the USA, Hungary, India and Australia, this episode uses case studies to look at the question of how new diseases arise and why they spread, or don't and finds that some are not diseases at all and are made worse by factors such as medical jargon and management style...A new disease at this moment is sitting quietly amongst rats on the Baltimore docks. It hasn't swept across the United States yet, and no-one knows why. In 1951, during the Korean War, a related disease afflicted thousands of soldiers many of whom died. A Film Australia/Goldwyn Associates Production for Channel Four and Film Australia. Copyright - 2011 National Film and Sound Archive of Australia. Executive Producer: Janet Bell Producer: Janet Bell Director: Aviva Ziegler Writer: Dr Norman Swan DOP/Cinematographer: Tony Wilson ACS. |
