SRP 2011 REVIEW: Maybe it's because I read Look Me In the Eye first, but I preferred that book over this one. I liked this story in this book, but found that there was too much teaching/random information and not enough story. For example, I didn't need a 3 page background on the history of Pi, an explanation of Blackjack or how a geyser works. However, I would have liked to know more about how he was disgnosed with Asperger's and if/how that affected him. Also, I would have loved to hear more about his brother that also has Asperger's and how having two people in the family with the syndrome affects the family. The way this book is written, it's clear that he sees details more than the overall picture (as he explained). That being said, he is an amazing person, and I'm glad he told his story. Reading this book does give an insight into his mind and how he works because obviously these details are more important to him and than things that I am interested in - the social aspects.

SRP 2010 REVIEW: Tammet is a very gifted individual that allows us to see into the very hard to understand mind of someone with autism, as a high functioning individual with savant syndrome / autism himself. It's great to hear how he views the world and see through his eyes at numbers, which are to him colorful and unique almost with personalities. It's hard to comprehend how someone can learn a new language in a week, but he can do it. Wow.
