Summary |
Chronicles a journalist's journey on foot across the Muslim world. Setting off in 2002, Rory Stewart began walking through Iran, Pakistan, India, and Napal. Initially denied access to Afghanistan, he was able to resume his journey after the fall of the Taliban. Along the way he met a colorful cast of characters from all walks of life, including rebels, thieves, soldiers, and tribal elders. Faced with harsh weather, bandits, wildlife and other challenges, Stewart drew upon his wits and knowledge of the landscape and culture to survive his grueling adventure. |
