| Summary |
At first, I scoured every nook and cranny around my house and the neighbourhood. How would we change shifts, just like doctors in a hospital, without arousing my family's or my neighbours' suspicions? Besides, the house wasn't huge and it was hard to escape my mother's notice, she was a typical mother. Of course, above all, I was called on to move quietly and act normal. Over the first couple of days, while I was 'combing' the rooms and thinking of ways to keep my parents out of this, I reached the conclusion that this was impossible. Their bedroom door was open, just in case, while they both slept rather lightly at night. The slightest sound could wake them up, which would give Jason away. What would happen if we had to unlock the door, open it and lock it again? Apart from that, my brother often stayed out late and, on his way back in, chances were we would stumble upon him. |
