Summary |
Whisky - The Islay Edition is a one-hour documentary special about the magic of the golden liquid called whisky and the small island off the coast of Scotland which has been called the Capital of Whisky. The Scottish island of Islay is the home of eight world famous whisky distilleries. Whisky consists mainly of peat, water, barley and most importantly, it is made by people. All of these ingredients are found on the island of Islay. The complete process of making whisky is divided into eight parts, and each Islay distillery featured in the film presents one part of this process. The eight distilleries featured are (in order of appearance): Ardbeg, Kilchoman, Bowmore, Bunnahabhain, Caol Ila, Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Bruichladdich. Each distillery has its own distinguished style of making whisky. As it introduces viewers to the eight great Islay distilleries, Whisky - The Islay Edition tells the history of whisky and how it is made. The film also provides a tour of Islay itself, island of myths and legends, and even features a lesson in how to properly prepare a whisky tasting. |
