Summary |
"Asian American" coined by activists Yuji Ichioka and Emma Gee in 1968 was a movement to build solidarity between the many AAPI ethnic groups struggling against racism and for their own civil rights. While not perfect in its current or past definitions, often centering East Asian Americans, the term itself symbolizes an important turning point in our history highlighting radical cross-racial solidarity. This documentary brings together four different short documentaries exploring immigration, genealogy, gentrification, and resilience within America. The shorts include Sarah Park's A Portrait of Us ??? ?? ???, Brandon Soun & Lan Nguyen's Conversations at the Register, Ginger Yifan Chen's What Remains, and Yuka Murakami's Sincerely Mine Okubo. |
