Summary The empirical Skeksis rule a deteriorating world while worshipping a sinister power source called the Dark Crystal and use it to feed on the world's population. The peaceful Mystics raise the scion of a species -- the Gelflings -- who is destined to go on a quest to defeat the despotic rulers using a small shard that split off the crystal and corrupted its power.
