Summary |
Based on a powerful true story, Emmet Foley (Gary Oldman), a Korean War hero unable to adjust to civilian life, loads his pistol and takes aim at his Florida hometown, hoping to be killed by the police so his wife (Frances McDormand) can collect the insurance. But he lands in a mental hospital instead, where he witnesses a horrifying scene of abuse, filth and neglect. With the help of a fellow inmate, Walker (Dennis Hopper), Foley begins a hero's crusade to end the hospital's vile practices. |
