Summary |
After a year a young woman emerges from a mental hospital where she has been committed by her husband. When her former 'delusions' seem close to the truth she begins to lose her mind. This film demonstrates how effectively melodrama can both override and simplify the implications of the social issues involved (in this case society's attitude to mental illness) when focused on a strong central performance, one of Simmons' best. While most 'social issue' films tend to date, melodramas like this one have an almost timeless quality. |
