Twisted history; sumptuous detail X
February 17 2011
Don't expect this to be historically accurate -- characters are combined for the sake of convenience (i.e. Henry VIII's two sisters), events are changed, though the skeleton of the story is accurate enough. But that's barely the point. This series focuses on the sexy aspects of Tudor history (the impetus for so many recent novels on the Tudors in recent years, even before the show): romantic drama, political intrigue, and lots of bodice-ripping! Costumes, casting and music are all lavish; fans of historical fiction will lap this up.
