Summary In 1939, Perry Nelson is in a devastating accident when his car falls over the side of a bluff and crashes into the rocks below. When he wakes, the warm summer sun has been replaced with snow and a strange woman dressed in furs takes him into her home. There, he learns that the year is now 2086 and that he somehow slept 150 years. Now, Perry must learned to adapt to a world that is completely alien to him and come to terms with great changes the planet had undergone while he was unconscious.

SRP 2011 REVIEW: This book was written by Heinlein in 1939, but never edited or published until after his death. I found the book a little dry (a lot of it was just dialog between the main character and the people of 2086 who are educating him about history, economics, and life in that era), but it was pure Heinlein. I found it fascinating to see the treatment of themes that kept coming up in his later books, and which of his predictions about "history" after 1939 came true and which did not.
