Summary In 1941 Ralph Churches was captured in Greece and imprisoned in Stalag SVIID in Maribor, Slovenia. A bank clerk in civilian life, and now a very junior member of military intelligence, Ralph hated being put to work for the Third Reich. He escaped twice and was recaptured. The he met Leslie Laws, a musician-turned-army-driver, and a plan fell into place. In this book, Ralph's son Neil vividly recreates his father's story and the sometimes brutal POW experience at Maribor. He reveals how Ralph and Les arranged the escape of 106 men, and the role played by US Major Franklin Lindsay, who was operating alongside the Partisan underground.
