Summary |
Rupert Brett has just enthusiastically begun his surveyor career with a prestigious British property firm. In Margaret Thatcher's London of the 1980s, there are fortunes to be made and lost. But every major deal comes with risk. With so much money at stake, business ethics and personal morals often take a back seat. In the eyes of the powerful bosses, everything is fair game-as long as you don't get caught. Paul Simions, a corrupt developer and market manipulator, is willing to do anything to make his deals. His careful system uses temporary secretaries to pass along insider information, but now the police are asking too many questions. When Paul's greed pushes him to murder, Rupert finds himself framed for the crime. To clear his name, Rupert must go deep into a dangerous world of bribery, money laundering, and market manipulation. He knows Paul is guilty, but how is he moving all that cash? Rupert's double-agent game catches up to him in Italy when a trap aimed at catching the criminals in the act backfires. Injured, distrustful, and angry, Rupert is on the verge of quitting, when a beautiful co-worker named Claire encourages him to try one last time. |
