SRP 2013 REVIEW: This novel is made up of separate chapters, each describing a different part or person of the protagonist's slightly corrupt neighborhood, Mango Street. The protagonist is Esperanza, and she wishes to change her life and live elsewhere. This book was really interesting because it had very vivid descriptions in a short amount of words. Through Esperanza's words, we feel a girl whose need is to be free but is held back by her home.

SRP 2010 REVIEW: Though this book is considered a coming of age classic, I had never read it before. The book is a collection of vignettes from a young firl who grows up in a Latinio part of Chicago. The moving collection feels like poetry.
