Summary The world we live in today is far different than it was 100 years ago. In fact, it is vastly different from the world of even 10 years ago. The advances in the medical science field deserve the most praise. These advances have improved and enhanced treatment methods for the diseases and ailments that are ever more present in society. Out of these advances, cannabis oil has been one of the most effective and widely adopted medical treatment methods of the last century. Cannabis oil, also referred to as hemp oil, is greatly different from marijuana that individuals use to get "high" and even different from medical marijuana administered by medical professionals. The main component, the active ingredient in cannabis oil, is a cannabinoid by the name of Cannabidiol (CBD). The absorption of CBD by the body does not result in any psychoactive effects, such as a feeling of being "high" or "stoned." Rather, their effects on the body can be described as calming and soothing, both on a physical level which an individual can recognize as well as on a level beneath the skin. The active ingredient in Marijuana that is used for recreational or medicinal purposes, on the other hand, is Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is the cannabinoid that induces the feeling of being "high" that is most often associated with all forms of cannabis. The reported benefits of cannabis oil vary greatly and span medical conditions such as cancer, epilepsy, insomnia, and high blood pressure. Cannabis oil has been touted by some as a "miracle treatment" for many conditions that simply did not have an effective treatment with minimal side effects available to consumers.
